- Yard Operative - Ascot
- Full-time permanent position, Monday to Friday 07:30 – 17:00 and alternate Saturdays 08:00 – 12:00, totalling 44.5 hours per week.

- Main Responsibilities –
- Safely load and unload deliveries of timber, fencing, and building materials, using manual handling techniques and appropriate lifting equipment as required.
- Accurately pick, check, and prepare customer orders for both trade and retail clients, ensuring products meet quality and safety standards.
- Maintain the yard in a clean, organised, and hazard-free condition, strictly following all Health & Safety procedures and company policies.
- Operate forklifts and other machinery (training provided if required) in a safe and efficient manner, supporting productive branch operations.
- Provide a professional, helpful service to customers and delivery drivers, ensuring positive interactions and upholding Lawsons’ reputation.
- Complete relevant paperwork and record keeping accurately, such as stock movement logs and delivery notes.
- Support colleagues across the branch, working collaboratively with warehouse, trade counter, sales, and mill teams to deliver seamless customer service.
- Promptly report any safety concerns, equipment faults, or incidents in line with Lawsons’ safety-first culture.
- Key Skills and Qualities – Yard, Timber & Builders Merchant Operative
- Relevant experience working in a yard, builder’s merchant, warehouse, or logistics environment is essential.
- Forklift licence (counterbalance or reach) is essential.
- Understanding of safe manual handling, PPE use, and workplace Health & Safety practices.
- Reliable and punctual, with the ability to thrive in a busy, physically active, and hands-on team role.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when picking and preparing orders.
- Positive attitude, eagerness to learn new skills, and commitment to delivering a high standard of customer service.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
