To ensure the organization meets its legal obligations as a licensed sponsor under the UK Home Office Points-Based Immigration System. The role is responsible for managing the end-to-end sponsorship process for international staff and missionaries, maintaining compliance with all immigration regulations, and supporting sponsored employees, missionaries and Church leaders throughout their lifecycle within the organization. This position is critical for protecting the organization’s sponsor license which enables access to global talent and the fulfilment of the mission of the Church in the United Kingdom by allowing area presidencies, missions presidents, temple presidents and full-time missionaries to serve in the country. This is a career-professional individual contributor reporting to a manager.
Sponsorship Process Management:
- Coordinate the full visa process for skilled workers (sponsored employees), ministers of religion area presidency, mission presidents, temple presidents, missionary training center (MTC) presidents) and religious workers (full time missionaries): Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) issuance, visa documentation support, and onboarding.
- Perform Right to Work checks for all sponsored individuals prior to their arrival in the country.
- Assign and manage CoS using the Home Office’s Sponsorship Management System (SMS).
- Maintain accurate sponsorship records and ensure all immigration steps are completed on time.
Compliance with Home Office Sponsor Duties:
- Act as an official representative of the Church as a sponsoring entity before the home office (Level 1 User).
- Ensure timely reporting of changes to sponsored workers (e.g., job role, location, salary, termination) within the SMS system.
- Monitor visa expiry dates and right-to-work documentation for all sponsored staff and others.
- Keep thorough, auditable records as per home office requirements.
- Prepare for and support United Kingdom Visas and Immigration (UKVI) compliance visits, internal audits, and respond to requests for information.
- Mitigate risk by identifying and escalating potential non-compliance issues proactively.
Employee and Stakeholder Support:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all queries related to sponsored visas from employees, hiring managers, mission presidents, stake presidents and other ecclesiastical leaders.
- Provide guidance and updates throughout the visa and extension process.
- Work closely with Office of General Counsel (OGC), Missionary Department, infield representatives and MTCs when needed on complex immigration cases.
- Liaise with Human Resources (HR) and OGC to ensure alignment in processes.
Policy & Process Improvement:
- Keep up to date with changes in UK immigration law and assess their impact on internal policies.
- Recommend and implement improvements to the sponsorship and compliance process.
- Contribute to internal immigration-related training and documentation for HR and hiring managers.
- Strong commitment with the mission and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
- Successfull candidate must live or be willing to relocate whithin an hour's commute from the Area Office in High Wycombe, United Kingdom.
- A total of eight years of combined university (or equivalent) education and experience in, HR, legal, business administration or a similar field.
- Deep understanding of United Kingdom Visas and Immigration (UKVI) sponsor requirements and immigration rules.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills, able to explain complex rules clearly to stakeholders.
- Confident using HR systems, Excel, and document management tools.
- Discreet and reliable when handling sensitive personal data.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload to tight deadlines.
