We’re hiring a UI/UX Designer to polish and refine a live React Native (Expo) app used by people with food allergies. This is not a full redesign — the foundation is already built. Your mission: make the existing experience cleaner, more modern, more consistent, and more professional, while maintaining our brand identity. App Preview: https://smartbites.food Project Scope What We Need • A refreshed, modern UI across 10–12 existing screens • A consistent design system that strengthens our existing brand • Redesigned versions of 3–4 key flows • Improved visual hierarchy, spacing, and interaction polish • Animation/micro-interaction guidance • A professional, cohesive look across iOS & Android Core Flows to Redesign 1. Recipe Browsing & Search (2-3 screens) 2. Restaurant Menu View (2 screens) 3. User Profile & Settings (1-2 screens) Total: 10-12 screens to polish Deliverables 1. Figma Design System ○ Typography scale (using Inter + Lato) ○ Spacing + grid system ○ Refined color palette (we already have one—just polish it) ○ Component library (buttons, cards, toggles, modals, etc.) ○ Design tokens structured React Native 2. High-Fidelity Screens ○ Redesigned user flows ○ Clickable prototype ○ Mobile-first visual hierarchy improvements ○ Dark mode considerations 3. Interaction & Animation Specs ○ Micro-interactions guidance ○ Transition rules ○ Loading + empty state patterns 4. Developer Handoff ○ Component specs ○ Annotated Figma ○ Implementation ready documentation Requirements (Must-Haves): • Strong portfolio of mobile UI/UX work • Figma expert (components, variants, auto-layout, tokens) • Understanding of React Native constraints (fonts, shadows, scaling) • Experience designing for accessibility • Clear communication & reliable handoff Nice-to-Haves: • Experience with food, health, or lifestyle apps • Light UX research background • Familiarity with Locofy / Anima / TeleportHQ What We Provide • Access to the current app (TestFlight + APK) • Brand guidelines + color palette • User feedback and pain points we've identified • Existing assets • Access to the dev team (Slack/Discord) • Weekly sync calls for alignment Budget & Timeline • Budget: $3,300 (fixed price) • Timeline: 5-6 weeks Payment Schedule • 33% upfront ($1100) — design system + concept • 33% at mid-point ($1100) — completed flows • 33% on final delivery ($1100) — final handoff + revisions Milestones • Week 1-2: Design system + concept screens • Week 3-4: Full flows + revisions • Week 5-6: Final polish, animation specs + handoff Working Style & Communication • Timezone: Arizona (MST, no DST) - 5am-8am MST • Weekly 30-minute video check-ins (Zoom/WebEx) • Async Figma comments • Slack or Discord • Project board (Notion or similar) Our Expectations: • Consistent progress • Clear communication • Openness to feedback • No surprises - stay aligned with us To Apply 1.
