Self-Employed Tutors – Alternative Provision (across the north east)
We are a dedicated alternative provision tutoring service, seeking self-employed tutors with resilience, perseverance, and a trauma-informed approach to education. This role offers a unique opportunity to support vulnerable children, including those in care or with a social worker, through one-to-one mentoring and tutoring.
About the Role:
- Flexible, self-employed position with multiple hours available to suit your availability.
- Face-to-face tutoring sessions take place during school hours (9 am – 3 pm)—no after-school or weekend work.
- Competitive pay rate: up to £35 per hour (depending on certain factors), plus mileage reimbursement (£0.40 per mile).
- The role is ideal for individuals with significant life experience, an education background, or transferable skills, who are passionate about making a difference in children’s lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-to-one mentoring and tutoring tailored to the needs of each child.
- Support young people to overcome social and emotional barriers to learning.
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including schools, social workers, and families.
- Monitor and track progress, ensuring positive educational and personal development outcomes.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) from a UK institution. (Relevant teaching qualifications may be considered)
- Experience in tutoring, mentoring, or alternative education settings.
- A trauma-informed approach to working with vulnerable children.
- Must be based in Stockton, Gateshead, or surrounding areas.
- A current enhanced DBS check registered on the update service.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car.
