- Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Biologist to join our Weed Control Research Biology Team, which contributes to the invention and development of novel herbicidal active ingredients and supports existing herbicidal products by generating high quality biological data. As part of Trialling Operations team within Technical Support - Weed Control you will support Weed Control Research Biology by managing herbicide bioassays in the glasshouse environment, including spraying and maintaining plants on the Secondary Profiling Screen (SPS) platform in order to deliver timely, quality data to herbicide research projects using established and novel screening methods. Key responsibilities will include
- Carrying out experimental work using established and novel screening methods.
- Maintaining plants under glasshouse conditions for the duration of the test.
- Performing all activities in accordance with the Syngenta Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy.
- Accurately keeping records and databases current.
- Showing initiative to improve WOWs of the screening platform.
- Delivering precise, accurate, and efficient work within a fast-paced team environment.
- Demonstrating strong work ethic and consistency.
- Contributing to team development through training support and problem-solving initiatives.
- Qualifications
- What we are looking for?
- BSc Degree or A levels plus experience in a related field preferred.
- General knowledge of plant biology; ideally also with knowledge of weed control and some agronomy.
- Entry level knowledge of laboratory techniques.
- Use of Microsoft office programs.
- Demonstrates strong analytical and organizational abilities with exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
- Self-motivated team player with agile learning capabilities and effective time management skills.
