One of Scotland’s top performing local authorities is looking for someone with health and safety experience to support work in the Education Department.
We believe in investing in potential. That’s why we’re offering an exciting Trainee opportunity as part of our “grow our own” approach—designed to support and develop future talent from within. This role is perfect for someone who’s passionate about making a difference and eager to build a career in Health and Safety. You’ll receive hands-on experience, professional development, and a clear pathway to a permanent role, all while being supported by a team that’s committed to helping you thrive.
This role may be suitable for an individual who has not yet achieved their N.E.B.O.S.H. National General Certificate in Health and Safety but can demonstrate relevant experience in Health and Safety and has a desire to achieve the qualification within the 6-month fixed term period. Should this be you, then we would welcome an application.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate their commitment to completing the N.E.B.O.S.H. National General Certificate in Health and Safety to be considered for this role. The Council will support you to achieve the qualification by paying course fees and giving time off to attend the course. Studying, either through attendance at college/learning provider or online learning platform, is mandatory for this role in order to achieve the required qualification.
This is your chance to launch a rewarding career in Health and Safety. Once you've successfully completed the required certification and demonstrated strong performance in the Trainee role, you'll be eligible to step into a permanent position as a Health and Safety Technician at Grade 8, with a competitive salary of £33,231 – £38,012. This is your opportunity to build a meaningful career where your growth is supported, your contributions are valued, and your potential is fully realised.
This role is offered on an initial fixed term contract basis which will be accompanied by a Training Contract/Letter of Undertaking, which asks for a commitment to repay course fees if you choose to leave the council before completing the agreed training period.
