What you’ll be doing

  • Assist the Supportability Engineering Team in the execution of engineering analysis and the application of supportability engineering principles to influence the design and future sustainment of GCAP platform and systems
  • Provide input, advice and feedback to systems discipline teams in regards to the supportability and maintainability considerations of the platform and systems
  • Process and analyse design data and current platform in-service data to help inform the future approach to through-life support with in the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) and Future Combat Air Systems (FCAS).
  • Generating technical supportability outputs in accordance with a variety of international standards and specifications
  • Assist with the overall assessment, management and control of change to supportability characteristics across various FCAS platform design concepts, and capture the subsequent impact on the through-life support solution requirements
  • Analysis of safety requirements and hazards that may influence the support solution

Your skills and experiences

  • Awareness and understanding of the overarching principles of through-life support to military air platforms
  • Experience of working in either a support engineering or maintenance role aligned to the weapons discipline and a good working level of understanding of the key standards/specifications/processes relevant to this domain
  • First line fast jet experience (Typhoon, Tornado, F-35) would be advantageous
  • An awareness the key principles of Reliability, Maintainability and Testability with an understanding of at least one of the following supportability engineering tools/techniques/approaches: Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Failure Modes, Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Logistics Support Analysis (LSA), Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)

The Through-Life Support Team

  • An opportunity has arisen within the growing GCAP Through-Life Support, Supportability Engineering Team, providing opportunity to influence the Reliability, Maintainability and Supportability considerations of the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP).
  • This role will initially be focussed on the early lifecycle – influencing the “design for support” considerations of the core platform concepts and eliciting requirements for the support solution - and will evolve into the development and in-service phases of the programme, generating, managing and configuring the outputs of various supportability engineering activities using internationally recognised standards and methods.
