Job Summary: Telesitters are responsible to remotely observe, document, and communicate patient safety concerns in the patient setting via video monitoring. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Continuously observes activity and behavior of multiple patients at a monitor station utilizing telesitter software to ensure a safe patient environment. Verbally redirects patient over digital 2-way audio device that is in the patient room. Immediately summons the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance. Identifies potential patient safety risks/concerns and communicates to the RN. Participates in hand-off of pertinent patient information/behavior at shift change. Arranges meal break and other relief times prior to leaving monitoring station so that backup may be provided to ensure constant patient observation. Provides patient with explanations as necessary but does not counsel or provide opinions. Seeks assistance when a patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others. Participates in collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety issues. Seeks assistance with removal of any potential safety hazard from patient rooms and reports findings to RN in a timely manner. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred. Previous clinical and direct patient care experience preferred. Basic computer skills – Microsoft applications required. Effective communication skills required.
