Role Purpose: Sibelco Green Solutions UK Ltd is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate to take on exciting and challenging tasks within an expansive and dynamic manufacturing environment. The Glass processing plant runs 24/7 and the successful candidate will be required to participate in a day shift rota, including on call. As a Maintenance Technician the successful candidate will be working within and supporting the Maintenance team, Engineering team, and all the Operations departments to continue the efficient operation of all process related equipment in a timely and constructive manner. Responsibilities: Ensuring all maintenance jobs are carried out safely, observing site rules and required risk assessments. Use skills and experience to monitor plant performance and condition in order to identify potential breakdowns before they occur, ensuring that any required actions are correctly reported Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance tasks to maximise plant efficiency and minimise downtime. Carrying out fault diagnosis to identify problems with plant as they arise and action the solution. Ensuring systems are kept up to date and faults are entered into the maintenance management system. Ensuring accurate reporting of maintenance, equipment status, parts/consumables used and fault reports. Using expertise and training to support the resolution of process issues as they arise. Ensuring the workshop and offices are all maintained and operate to a high standard (organised, clean & tidy), including your own work areas. Supporting the creation of written procedures and associated documents (SOPs, reports etc.) and report errors or where documents have become obsolete and need to be updated. Ensuring all work is carried out in line with site policies and procedures. Following the company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures. Supporting and contributing to a continuous improvement quality culture. Essential Qualifications/Skills required for this role: Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent ONC/HNC Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering Knowledge of glass processing equipment including, conveyors, screens, bearings, optical sorters or similar industrial equipment would be a significant advantage Experience in production, manufacturing, welding, maintenance or servicing environments Basic electrical understanding and a willingness to further develop in electrical competence would also be preferential Proficient computer skills (experience of Microsoft applications minimum) Good understanding of health, safety and environmental protocols and experience undertaking risk assessments and exercising risk reduction measures A good attitude to work and promoting and supporting the companies values Good interpersonal skills, able to work alone and/or as part of a team A flexible and responsive approach to work, with the ability to take responsibility and justify actions Enthusiasm for accepting new challenges and opportunities to learn with a ‘can do’ attitude Good communicator, both written and spoken Experience working with asset/maintenance management software, controlled work permit systems and following procedure Enjoy working in a team whilst being comfortable working autonomously Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing techniques including SMED, RCPS, 5’s, etc Driving licence Desirable Qualifications/Skills required for this role: Higher education in electrical or mechanical engineering fields to HNC or HND level desirable Proven (evidence of qualifications) training for hands on, mechanical/electrical servicing/diagnosis Why Join Us?
