  • We have a great opportunity for a technical manager in our manufacturing site in Cramlington, UK!
  • A management role, leading the Engineering, Process and Maintenance teams within a manufacturing environment at the Cramlington facility. In this role you will be a key member of the Plant Leadership Team and will report to the Plant Manager on site.

Your key responsabilities

  • You will be an ambassador of safety, you will take the lead in building a culture of safety awareness.

  • Taking the lead in driving day to day safety initiatives including risk assessment, problem solving, “Lock Out Tag Out” as well as other solvent Safety initiatives.

  • Accountable for centrally driven initiatives (GPS/LDR), providing honest feedback and clear direction to all team members with the use of effective coaching methods and development/succession planning.

In addition, you will take full responsibility / accountability for

  • Ensuring that all asset management is optimised to provide the desired level of safety, quality and cost to optimise performance.
  • Identifying and maintaining optimum spares inventory
  • BeingaAccountable for the management of the site planned preventative maintenance system.
  • Working alongside the EH&S Manager onsite to ensure that all equipment meets current health, safety and environment requirements.
  • Input into setting best practice standards for engineering and equipment standardisation and drive implementation of these on sites.
  • Being responsible for formulating and executing an annual capital plan.
  • Formulating and controlling all engineering budgets.
  • Ensuring all test/conformity records for the site are kept for the required length of time and stored appropriately.
  • Maintaining agreed standards for machinery downtime.
  • Managing projects, from design to delivery, including completion of ‘Management of Change’ documentation for relevant projects.
  • Providing a senior level of escalation and technical support for team members, including night shift / out of hours support as required.
  • Actively participating in all required meetings such as PLT meetings, Tier 4 and other daily or weekly plant reviews.
  • Actively maintaining working relationships with other Avery Dennison Technical departments.

  • Graduate qualification with relevant management experience within a manufacturing environment. Masters degree is desirable but not essential.
  • Knowledge and experience of functional budget preparation, management and control.
  • Experience in project management
  • A practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering
  • Excellent computer skills including core packages such as MS Office and Google Chrome.
  • Strong communication skills in both written and verbal form with the ability to collaborate across boundaries, both internally and externally
  • Highly effective communication and influencing skills
  • Excellent time management ability with an attention to detail
  • Capability to progress beyond this role
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements and legislation
  • Self motivated, showing flexibility, adaptability and humility to support the business in whatever capacity is requested
  • Proactively build and develop the team to create a clear pipe line for succession.
  • Set a clear vision and plan to deliver against site and European strategy.
  • Ability to define and deliver continuous improvement initiatives using internal tools including ELS, Quality audits, and Kaizen techniques
  • Understanding of ATEX working practices
