What you’ll be doing

  • Accountable for the delivery of technical publications across all Electronic Systems’ projects. Ensuring the most cost-effective and efficient means of delivering, whilst mitigating risk and leveraging opportunities
  • Representing the Technical Publications team at meetings, project reviews and gateways. Raising the profile of technical publications and acting as an ambassador for the wider supportability function.
  • Supporting the development of estimates for the scope of work and resources required to deliver it in order to support bids, proposal development and project planning activities
  • Dealing with stakeholders from across all levels of the business, including internal (e.g. Engineering Project Manager’s, Chief Engineers, Functional Managers etc.) and external (e.g. Customers, Suppliers etc.)
  • Proactively supporting career management and the professional development of all Technical Publications team members
  • Identifying and implementing new tools, technologies and trends to modernise and improve our Technical Publications department

Your skills and experiences

Essential

  • Previous team leadership experience
  • Significant experience of supportability/ ILS or technical publication requirements
  • HNC/HND/Degree in relevant subject or equivalent working experience
  • Experience within an engineering environment e.g. Mechanical/ Electrical/ Aerospace/ Nuclear/ Rail/ Automotive etc

Desirable

  • Experience/exposure to estimating and/or bids

Technical Publications Team

  • As the Technical Information Lead, you will lead a team of Technical Authors, as part of Electronic System’s supportability engineering function.
  • Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, you will work with multiple stakeholders to understand business priorities and set the priorities and workload for the Technical Publications team members. You will also drive the adoption of new processes, tools, and technologies within the Technical Publications team.
  • The work you do will help to improve the way Electronic Systems delivers its crucial programmes and supports its customers, as well as supporting efficiency and capability for our teams of Engineers.
