  • Core responsibilities
  • Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and classroom activities aligned with curriculum standards and learning objectives.​
  • Teach classes, explain concepts, lead discussions, and use different methods (presentations, exercises, group work) to engage students.​
  • Assess and record student progress by setting homework, tests, and assignments, marking work, and giving feedback and grades.​
  • Classroom and communication
  • Maintain an orderly, safe, and inclusive classroom environment, managing behavior and supporting a positive learning culture.​
  • Communicate regularly with parents or guardians through meetings and reports about students’ performance, progress, and behavior.​
  • Collaborate with other teachers and school staff, attend meetings and training, and contribute to school events and activities
  • Qualifications

For a school teacher, typical qualifications are

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in education or in a subject area plus a teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed. or equivalent).​
  • Knowledge of the relevant curriculum, child development, and classroom management strategies, often supported by teaching internships or practice teaching.​
