  • Your role and responsibilities
  • Lead the operation and continuous improvement of our tendering, contract management, and spend data analysis systems.
  • Provide specialist support and training to staff and directorates, enabling effective procurement and contract management.
  • Develop and deliver robust procurement data analysis to inform category management and strategic decision-making.
  • Support the development of a helpdesk, offering guidance, online support, and training across the Council.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement rules through process sampling and support for corporate requirements (e.g. procurement cards).
  • Deliver management reporting and present complex data to a range of audiences.
  • Line manage and motivate helpdesk and analyst staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Strong collaboration skills, with a willingness to assist and support colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines.
  • Good attention to detail with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with to develop and deliver training materials to a variety of audiences

  • The Team
  • You will report to the Strategic Procurement Business Partner – Systems and Service and sit within the Procurement Team, which provides a professional Procurement support service to the Council.
  • The team play a key role in the strategic management of the Council’s wholly owned companies, delivering commercial challenge ensuring all service provisions are cost effective and efficient, and providing the best return for the Council and the people of Suffolk.
  • The team supports Directorates with their own tenders and quotations for low-risk procurement, with support from a procurement helpdesk including the use of on-line templates, procurement systems as well as training and development opportunities.
