About
- Ingenuity Prep prepares PreK, elementary, and middle school students in Ward 8 to succeed in college and beyond as impactful civic leaders. Our innovative instructional model promotes small group learning for students, collaborative teaching teams, and robust coaching and professional development opportunities for teachers. Our teacher career ladder rewards strong performance over time, giving teachers the opportunity to earn higher levels of base compensation and bonuses as they demonstrate effectiveness with their students and colleagues. Our instructional leaders are charged with supporting teachers by providing clear expectations, ongoing feedback, and targeted development.
- We are looking for a short-term Human Resources Coordinator to join our team and play a key role in supporting Ingenuity Prep’s people operations. As a member of the Talent Team, you’ll help ensure our HR systems, records, and compliance processes run smoothly and efficiently. One day you might be updating staff personnel files or verifying custom field data, and the next you’ll be preparing information for compliance reports or supporting staff with HR-related questions. Your attention to detail, organization, and commitment to excellent service will help keep our HR operations running seamlessly and support Ingenuity Prep’s goal of being one of the best places to work in D.C.
- WHAT WE’RE ABOUT
- Mission: We’re closing the opportunity gap. Students and families in Southeast D.C. have too few options for high-quality elementary, middle, and high schools. Ingenuity Prep aspires to right this systemic injustice providing an exemplary educational option for Southeast D.C.’s students and families.
- Model: We pair high expectations with high support. Too often, our students are underestimated. At Ingenuity Prep, an innovative teacher development model, paired with best-in-class training from strong instructional leaders, allows us to grow great teachers who, ultimately, lead high-expectation and high-support classrooms.
- Results: Our students are defying expectations. Ingenuity Prep’s students outperform their neighborhood peers on rigorous, national, college-track assessments. Already out-performing many of their more privileged peers around the city, in the coming years, Ingenuity Prep’s students will provide an expectation-defying and achievement-gap-closing proof point — showing what our kids are capable of when we provide the right opportunities, expectations, and support.
- WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Human Resources Coordinator at Ingenuity Prep, you will
- Support the HR Manager by organizing, transferring, and maintaining current staff personnel files, ensuring all records are accurately labeled and stored in accordance with the approved naming system.
- Migrate and properly file staff background and fingerprinting reports from the current school year in alignment with compliance and recordkeeping requirements.
- Update and maintain all Custom Fields in the HRIS (e.g., T-shirt size, OSSE credential information, emergency contacts, and other personnel/employment details) to ensure accurate and complete staff data.
- Collaborate with the HR Manager to support compliance reporting, including the preparation and validation of data for annual submissions, such as EEOC and Form 1095-C reports.
- Conduct regular data audits to confirm accuracy and consistency across HR systems and staff records.
- Uphold confidentiality and ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and organizational policies.
- WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Ingenuity Prep may be the right fit for you if
- You have 1–2 years of experience in HR or administration as an intern or full-time employee, preferably in a school or mission-driven organization.
- You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple administrative projects simultaneously.
- You have strong data entry and systems management skills with a keen eye for accuracy and consistency.
- You are a team player who collaborates effectively while also being capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- You maintain discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive or confidential information.

- You are proactive, resourceful, and eager to grow in your HR career.
- Salary: $35 per hour
