  • Grade: G6; Salary Range: £29,093 - £33,366 (Pro rata to hours worked)
  • Join Walsall Council's Housing and Welfare Team as a Support Worker and embark on an exciting opportunity to support and empower young people within our temporary accommodation and partnered housing schemes. You will equip them with the necessary life skills to be tenancy ready and able to live independently in the community, propelling them towards positive outcomes. This is an exciting time to join the team and shape the way we develop young people with their life skills, employability skills, education and training for 18–24-year-olds supporting positive transitions towards independent living.
  • We currently have an opening for two Support Worker’s, within the dedicated Housing and Welfare team working in partnership with internal and external agencies within Walsall Council.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting diverse young people between the ages 18–24-year-olds, developing the young people life skills to enable them to become tenancy ready. At the same time working in partnership with Employment Adviser supporting the young person to access employment, apprenticeships, training, and further education. The role will also include supporting individuals towards achieving and completing an Independent Living Plan programme and provide a bespoke and tailored service to all.
  • We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who embraces challenges and is dedicated to make a difference to the lives of our young people. You must have a strong understanding and a genuine appreciation for the challenges faced by unemployed residents and young people who have faced adversity along their journey. The ideal candidates will be able to show effective partnership skills with providers and professionals at the same time overcome these challenges.
  • You will engage with vulnerable individuals, adapting provisions to meet their specific needs while adhering to required policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Work plans will incorporate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and you will be accountable for workload management to achieve optimal performance. It is crucial to maintain an updated knowledge of relevant services, an active employer engagement strategy, and utilise tools that contribute to ongoing professional development.

  • To support vulnerable young people whilst living in Temporary Accommodation
  • Carry out all duties as a Support Worker that always reflects Walsall Council’s values
  • Perform additional duties as required for the role
  • Ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety for Walsall Council Temporary Accommodation
