WORKING HOURS: 37 hours, working between Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm

LOCATION: Home based with travel in and around the Banes area.

(Applicants must live within the area; have a full driver’s licence and access to their own transport)

SALARY: starting salary £24,242.40 per annum

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Support Worker / Independent Advocate to join a dedicated and inclusive team providing advocacy and information services across the Banes area.

As a Support Worker / Independent Advocate you will help vulnerable adults understand their rights, explore options and make informed decisions about their health and social care.

The Support Worker / Independent Advocate will work independently, collaborating with local agencies, and delivering persuasive written and verbal representations to ensure the best possible outcomes for clients.

This is a home-based position involving travel around Banes, requiring flexibility, excellent communication, and strong organisational skills.


DUTIES

Your duties as the Support Worker / Independent Advocate include:

• Providing Advocacy Support: Deliver independent advocacy to individuals facing health and social care challenges

• Supporting Clients: Help clients navigate complex health and social care systems and make informed choices

• Representing Clients: Present persuasive verbal and written representations to professionals and agencies

• Collaborating With Services: Work with statutory and voluntary organisations to resolve issues and support client outcomes

• Maintaining Accurate Records: Record casework and data within agreed timescales using client management systems

• Managing Caseloads: Prioritise and organise workload effectively while meeting deadlines

• Promoting the Service: Raise awareness of advocacy rights and responsibilities within the community

• Ensuring Confidentiality: Handle sensitive and personal information with discretion and professionalism

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• Excellent Communication Skills: Able to build trust, listen actively, and advocate clearly on behalf of clients

• Strong IT Proficiency: Confident using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the ability to learn new databases

• Attention To Detail: Ensure records and reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with organisational standards

• Time Management: Able to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote working environment

DESIRABLE

• Previous Advocacy or Support Experience: Experience within advocacy, support, advice, or a related health and social care setting

• Knowledge Of Vulnerable Adults: Understanding of safeguarding and issues affecting vulnerable people

• Familiarity With Local Services: Awareness of public and voluntary sector organisations in the Banes area
