A Ofsted rated "Good Provider" not-for-profit independent fostering agency, is currently seeking a passionate and experienced Supervising Social Worker to join their dedicated team. The successful candidate will be covering a caseload predominantly across the Midlands. This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week.
Summary of the Role
The core purpose of this role is to supervise and support an allocated caseload of foster families (up to 12) who are looking after children and young people in their homes. Furthermore, the Supervising Social Worker will contribute to the vital processes of recruitment and assessment of new foster families. The agency is known for placing children at the heart of everything they do, providing safety, stability, and hope.
Candidates should possess relevant social work qualifications and a commitment to professional excellence, upholding the Social Work England standards of proficiency. Experience working within an Independent Fostering Agency or a similar setting is a key requirement, with over a year's experience in a Supervising Social Worker role within an IFA being desirable. A full driving licence is essential.
The competitive salary starts from £40,000, plus allowances, and includes an essential car user allowance. Additional benefits include private healthcare and a staff rewards and recognition scheme.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise an allocated caseload of up to 12 foster families in line with national and agency standards and procedures.
Ensure all foster families with a placement are visited at least monthly, with more regular visits for new placements as agreed.
Proactively work as part of the "team around the child" to manage support for foster placements, aligning with the children's needs and the foster families' capabilities.
Undertake social work duty in support of existing and new foster placements, which includes participating in the out-of-hours duty rota and the daytime duty rota.
Complete necessary assessment and review work, including Form F assessments (desirable experience), annual reviews, and risk assessments to a high standard and on time.
Support the recruitment and retention of foster families and participate in training activities with foster parents and therapeutic support groups.
Engage with social work supervision, attend all relevant practice, clinical, and staff meetings, and participate in professional development activities.
