The Role:
We are seeking a resilient and emotionally intelligent SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to provide targeted support to students who require significant help with managing their behaviour, anxiety, and social interactions. This role often involves one-to-one work and supporting pupils across the curriculum to ensure their stability and engagement.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide intensive one-to-one support to pupils with diagnosed SEMH needs or complex behavioural challenges.
- Implement individual behaviour management plans and de-escalation strategies consistently and calmly.
- Facilitate the re-integration of pupils into mainstream lessons after periods in the Inclusion Unit.
- Monitor and record behavioural incidents and triggers, reporting effectively to the SENCo and pastoral team.
- Support students during transition periods (e.g., between lessons, at break times) to minimise anxiety and conflict.
- Help develop pupils' emotional literacy and coping mechanisms through structured intervention activities.
- Act as a key liaison between the student, class teacher, and parents regarding social and emotional well-being.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have specialist skills and a robust approach to emotional support.
- Substantial experience working with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs in an educational or care setting.
- Training in behaviour management techniques such as Team Teach, MAPA, or similar de-escalation methods.
- A non-judgmental, calm, and highly resilient personality under pressure.
- Exceptional listening and non-verbal communication skills to build trust with vulnerable pupils.
- The ability to maintain professional boundaries while offering genuine empathy and warmth.
- A relevant qualification (NVQ Level 3 or higher) in Childcare, Youth Work, or Psychology is highly desirable.
