Do you instinctively understand the unique sensory and communication challenges faced by students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)?
Are you skilled at providing structure, clarity, and a safe emotional space for students who experience the world differently?
About The School
We are a vibrant, caring primary school that operates a highly regarded Autism Resource Provision (ARP) within their main campus, committed to full inclusion. The school provides a highly structured and predictable environment, enabling students with ASC to flourish academically and socially. They pride themselves on low staff turnover and an exceptional ratio of support to pupils.
The Role:
They are seeking a highly specialised and intuitive SEN LSA to work primarily with pupils on the Autism Spectrum. This involves supporting them within the mainstream classroom, within the quiet structure of the ARP, and during less structured times of the day.
If you're interested in this role APPLY NOW.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of personalised communication strategies (e.g., PECS, visual cues, social stories) tailored to the individual pupil's needs.
- Create and maintain highly structured learning environments using visual schedules, workstation systems, and clear boundaries.
- Assist pupils in managing sensory input, providing quiet breaks and using sensory tools as outlined in their support plan.
- Facilitate meaningful social interactions with peers, modeling appropriate communication and play skills.
- Track and record data related to communication goals and independence levels daily.
- Provide continuity of support during transitions, ensuring the pupil feels secure and prepared for change.
- Help manage anxiety and meltdowns using gentle, consistent, and proactive strategies, understanding the function of the behaviour.

- A highly observant and reflective approach to understanding student communication and behaviour.

- The ability to collaborate effectively with therapists (e.g., Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy).
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary and benefits.
- A warm, welcoming, and inclusive school environment.
- Ongoing professional development opportunities to grow your skills.
