- Job Description
- AECOM are seeking an experienced individual to join our growing social value team. You will be responsible for supporting our clients to deliver improved and measurable outcomes for society. As a Social Value Lead, you will work as part of the Buildings and Places Business Line team to develop, implement, and monitor social value across all aspects of our operations and projects; helping our teams grow and improve their social value knowledge and professionalise our approach in line with our strategic objectives.
- A key aspect will be supporting our work winning teams across the Buildings & Places market sectors to make a real impact in the communities we support. This will involve working collaboratively across departments, engaging with internal teams, clients, external partners, and local communities to understand the local priorities and set the approach to drive positive change before tracking progress toward our social value objectives.
- Embracing a hybrid approach we are willing to consider Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and London as office locations for this opportunity.
- Main Responsibilities
Social Value Strategy
- Ensure a strategic approach to work winning through responses to PQQ and ITT tender requests, local partnerships, case studies and social value knowledge.
- Support the development of resources to enable the AECOM workforce to deliver social value programmes, for example resource packs, materials, and partnerships for educational engagement programmes that support or projects and programmes.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify key areas for social impact and set measurable objectives.
- Stay informed about best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory requirements related to social value and corporate social responsibility.
- Co-create and support the Europe and India social value programmes that contribute to our Social Value Strategy.
- Support project and functional teams to integrate social value principles into their activities and decision-making processes.
- Understanding and responding to key client, sector and regional social value drivers.
- Upskill employees through training and guidance resources.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement in our social value initiatives.
- Partnership Working
- Identify and sustain partnerships with regional groups, suppliers, third sector organisations to support Social Value strategy and AECOM workforce to deliver impactful social value activities and outcomes.
- Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including, local social value groups, community leaders, and industry associations.
- Measurement & Reporting
- Tracking, measurement and reporting of social value activity in support of framework and contractual commitments.
- Creation of regional specific case studies for reporting, comms, work winning.
- Generate regular reports on social impact performance for internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and success stories to demonstrate our commitment to social responsibility.

Here’s what we’re looking for
- Knowledge and evidenced understanding of the implications of the Public Sector Services Act 2012, PPN 06/20 and other legislation in relation to planning, major infrastructure, urban regeneration and environmental enhancement schemes.
- Experience writing social value tender submissions and supporting work winning activities. Excellent report writing and research skills with a high proficiency in using Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Engaging with partners or stakeholders such as employment and educational organisations, social enterprises and charities to develop and maximise social value outcomes.
- Developing and implementing comprehensive and effective social value related plans, strategies or frameworks
- Measuring social value created by projects including experience of using social value measurement tools such as the national TOMs framework
- Managing projects - including client liaison, reporting requirements and the financial management aspects.
- Independently planning and delivering social value related activities and initiatives for key projects.
- Working independently with minimal support whilst also contributing to wider team goals.
- Experience of creating social value action plans, coordinating, and delivering social value initiatives.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
