About the Role

This is a full-time position responsible for the operational management, maintenance, security, and cleanliness of a busy academy site. The successful candidate will be a proactive, hands-on leader, playing a vital role in ensuring a safe and productive environment for students, staff, and visitors. The role requires a dedicated professional capable of taking initiative and providing essential support to the premises team.

Proven track record in premises management, site maintenance, or a similar facilities role, ideally within a school environment.
Up-to-date knowledge of relevant Health and Safety legislation and compliance procedures.
Eligibility to work in the UK.
Enhanced Child DBS on the updated service (Willingness to apply for one)

Core Responsibilities

Manage and execute a scheduled programme of general maintenance and repairs across the site.
Ensure the security of the building, including opening and closing the premises daily.
Oversee and monitor all external contractors working on school premises, ensuring compliance.
Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments, taking prompt corrective action.
Maintain effective records for statutory testing, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation.
Deputise for the Site Manager, including supporting the supervision of other site staff.
Ensure the school grounds and external areas are maintained to a high standard, including litter picking and basic grounds maintenance.
Manage and monitor the academy's heating, lighting, and alarm systems.
Be a key holder, responding to out-of-hours emergencies as required.
Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene are maintained across the site in collaboration with cleaning staff/contractors.
