This is a fulltime, permanent position. Please note, working hours for this role consist of 12 hour shifts, both Days (07:00 – 19:00) and Nights (19:00 – 07:00) over a 3 week rotational shift pattern. An example working pattern would be

  • Week 1: Days, Days, Nights, Nights, REST.
  • Week 2: REST, REST, Days, Days, Days.
  • Week 3: Nights, Nights, REST, REST, REST.

Job Responsibilities that you be covering

  • As a Pilot Plant Chemist, you will be responsible for operating a modern Pilot Plant facility, ensuring all activities are completed safely, compliantly, and in accordance with GMP expectations.
  • You will follow detailed GMP batch instructions to carry out a range of manufacturing tasks, including solids and liquids charging, reaction monitoring, reaction work ups, crystallisations, and the management of associated waste streams.
  • You will conduct GMP in process analysis using techniques such as HPLC, Karl Fischer, and GC to monitor reaction progress, verify in process controls, and ensure the successful execution of manufacturing steps.
  • You will learn and apply new processes as required, ensuring you operate safely, effectively, and fully in line with client procedures, regulatory standards, and internal quality expectations.
  • Qualifications
  • What skills, qualifications and experiences you will hold as an Shift Pilot Plant Chemist
  • To succeed in this role, you will hold a Degree, MSc, MChem, or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering. Courses containing substantial organic chemistry content are particularly desirable.
  • You will have a strong, fundamental understanding of Chemistry and analytical science, supported by practical experience within a pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing environment. Previous Pilot Plant experience is highly advantageous.
  • You will be experienced in using instrumental techniques such as HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer, and UPLC within a GMP regulated framework, and knowledge of drug substance analysis or development processes would be beneficial.
  • You will demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot instrumentation and analytical challenges, investigate questionable or OOS results, and support pilot plant investigations with accuracy and scientific reasoning.
  • You will also have the capability to learn new processes quickly, adapt to evolving operational needs, and contribute effectively to the safe and compliant execution of drug substance manufacturing activities.
