  • The Post
  • Brent Shared Lives provides an alternative to traditional types of care and support available to adults with a learning disability and autism. In Shared Lives, a person lives or stays with a Shared Lives carer within the local community. The Shared Lives carer provides the care and support in their own family home and as part of their own family and community network. The person would become part of the carer’s extended family and be supported by the Shared Lives carer to live the life they choose.
  • Brent Shared Lives supports people who rely on the help and support of others to maximise their potential and maintain their sense of independence. Brent shared lives scheme is a CQC (Care Quality Commission) registered service offering the opportunity for vulnerable adults to live in the community. The adult is “matched” with a carer who is recruited, assessed, trained, and supported by scheme officers.
  • The Deputy Team Manager will support the Team Manager (Registered Manager) during these transformative times with the growth and expansion of Brent Shared Lives as a lead commissioned service within the London Borough of Brent. The post holder will lead on the recruitment and selection of Shared Lives Carers in addition to supporting the team to match customers to suitably qualified and experienced Shared Lives Carers. The post holder will hold a small but complex case load of Shared Lives Carers and Customers and will undertake quarterly visits and other reviews to ensure that the scheme delivers a safe and person-centred care and support service for vulnerable adults in addition to ensuring that their agreed Care Act outcomes have been met.
  • The Person
  • The post holder will have significant knowledge, skills and experience at a management level of working in adult social care either in a statutory or a provider service setting. We are seeking someone who has excellent organisational skill combined with the ability to work on their own initiative and work to agreed deadlines.

We are seeking someone who has

  • Experience of working in Adult Social Care services or similar organisations, such as the NHS or Voluntary / Charity Sector
  • Knowledge of Care Quality Commission requirements in relation to Shared Lives
  • Good organisational with the ability to work under pressure to meet agreed deadlines
  • Good verbal, written and communication skills with the ability to complete customer’s assessments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to engage confidently with a wide range of stakeholders and communities to promote values of Brent Shared Lives
