- As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in building scalable backend systems that enable real-time coordination of connected energy devices, helping accelerate the transition to renewable energy. You will join a high-impact, fast-moving team working closely with senior leadership and customer-facing teams to bring innovative solutions from concept to production. The role involves hands-on development, designing robust distributed systems, and translating complex requirements into reliable, production-ready services. You will influence the architecture, ensure system reliability, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver measurable impact. - Accountabilities
- Design, build, and scale backend systems powering real-time energy device orchestration.
- Develop distributed services for site-level optimization, aggregated-load modeling, dispatch, and control.
- Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to extend platform capabilities for complex grid-scale use cases.
- Translate customer and internal requirements into robust, production-ready systems.
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of key systems from pilot stages to live deployments.
- Take ownership of projects end-to-end, from ideation through production and iteration.
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing and maintain high engineering standards.
- Proven experience as a backend or full-stack engineer building maintainable, testable, and scalable systems.
- Experience with distributed systems or large-scale backend services.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages and frameworks such as TypeScript, Node.js, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
- Experience with real-time data systems (e.g., DynamoDB, TimescaleDB, or Axiom) and API-first architecture.
- Ability to take ownership and navigate ambiguity in fast-moving, early-stage environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to balance speed with long-term technical foundations.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with engineers, senior leadership, and customers.
- Bonus: prior experience in energy/IoT products, handling on-call responsibilities, or distributed infrastructure.
