Part-time (0.4 FTE – 0.6 FTE) 12-month fixed-term role Dynamic opportunity for a Senior Research Psychologist to join the Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use Base Salary $112,628 - $122,702 (pro-rata) + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use is seeking a Senior Research Psychologist to assist with the development and implementation of two clinical trials focused on the treatment of alcohol use and anxiety in postpartum mothers and prevention of intimate partner and sexual violence in young people. The Matilda Centre brings together world-leading researchers, clinicians, people with lived experience and, community to share skills, synergise data, harness new technologies and trial innovative programs to prevent and treat mental and substance use disorders. The position will require you to work 14-21 hours per week, closely working within two project teams, comprised of the Chief Investigators, other clinical psychologists, Senior Research Academics, and professional staff and students. Your key responsibilities will be to: Develop and adapt therapeutic content, primarily audio-based, alongside digital interactive worksheets and resources for postpartum mothers with concerns regarding their alcohol use and anxiety implement and deliver tailored psychological programs, including provision of clinical support calls and diagnostic assessments, and contribute to risk management strategies work closely with colleagues to optimise client care, participate in meetings, and provide expert consultation conduct other day-to-day research tasks for the two randomised controlled trials as required, including participant recruitment, data management, liaising with web developers, fostering and maintaining effective communication and relationships with trial participants and project staff, and dissemination of findings through reports, conference presentations, and peer-reviewed publications monitor workplace risks, support health and safety initiatives, address compliance issues, and ensure work is completed alongside the ethics, guidelines, and standards of the University’s policies and Work Health and Safety requirements undertake ad-hoc tasks, projects, or activities under the guidance of your reporting manager. About you Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology or a relevant field current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration as a Psychologist and current Working with Children Check (WWCC) extensive clinical experience working with mothers pre and postpartum (as a perinatal clinician), adolescents, and younger children and other family members proven research experience developing, implementing and running online and face-to-face psychological programs for mental health and/or substance use concerns Experience providing referrals and conducting risk assessments and managing complex mental health conditions familiarity with digital mental health trends, including app-based interventions and telehealth best practices ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including researchers, clinicians, and content creators dedication to subject confidentiality and research ethics, particularly with respect to identified subject data of a sensitive nature. Need strong levels of empathy, client and cultural diversity sensitivity, with the ability to remain neutral and non-judgmental at all times.
