Join Heat UK’s journey towards Fossil Freedom as our new Senior Project ManagerVattenfall has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join our UK Heat team in Edinburgh to develop and establish the extensions of our growing district heating assets.Vattenfall UK Heat is responsible for the development and construction of the heat and power generating assets and the district heating grid in the UK region. Respect in dealing with each other, our colleagues and business partners is just as important to us as having fun in our daily work.In the position of Senior Project Manager you will strengthen our Project Management team which is part of the Scotlang regional business office. You will be responsible for development and realisation of multi-million investment projects in line with the outlined objectives, business drivers and the Vattenfall project management model and governance. You will be supported by a strong (local) project team and Vattenfall competence and resource pools, tools, and systems. Your tasks and responsibility will be widespread:Reinforcing robust management of health and safety to industry best practiceContinuous steering, planning, scheduling, managing, executing, and controlling the project with responsibility for budget, deadlines, quality, occupational safety, and risk management, from concept development, construction to the start of commercial operation of a new plantDevelopment and controlling/monitoring of contracts with suppliers and service providersCoordination and determination of all relevant project results with the decision makersProactive management of the critical path and, execution of subordinate tasksReporting on key Performance IndicesLeadership of the project multi-disciplinary teamResourcing and cost managementResponsible for keeping the project running according to schedule, within budget with the highest standard of quality and safety with support and input of the teamYour profile:Being the right candidate, you are characterised as structured and equipped with a sound judgment. You easily connect to people and your advanced communication skills are usable towards senior management as well as on work floor level. You are passionate about being part of the transformation taking place in the shift to a zero-carbon energy sector and are able to keep focus on what is important for Vattenfall. The job requires an orientation on international cooperation with technical, as well as business-oriented experts.Next to this you are:High communication, and influencing skills, proficient at addressing Executive to team audiences.Able to take initiative and ownership of responsibilities and drive to completionHigh affinity with complex technical asset investment projects in the realization phase with the practical experience, solution orientation and confidence to steer your team and the contractors to successful completion.Confident and experienced in mastering critical project content (irrespective of it being technical or commercial) together with a Project Team and a wider team of experts in order to enable and/or maintain project successSomeone eager to grasp the full picture of the company’s interests, prepare decision making correspondingly, able to manage a team which is paying close attention to details but still manages consideration and connection of details with the overall project picturePassionate about setting up something new, building new processes and setting new standardsA promoter of diversity and inclusion in the workplace QualificationsTo be successful, you should further bring:Proven multi-year experience in District Heating projects in a technical area (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering/ I&C, process engineering, civil engineering) or in a commercial area, in particular commercial project management and contract managementProject management qualification (e.g: IPMA certification or similar qualifications)Proven experience in leading project teams in the UK marketExcellent interpersonal skills: you are an inspirational leader, working in teams motivates you, and you are able to build a bridge between the project and all internal and external stakeholders relevant for successNegotiating skills, willingness to compromise and persuasivenessGood networking within the industryHigh degree of competence with software including: Office 365 suite (Word/ Excel Planner); MS ProjectThe successful candidate will need to have the right to work in the UKAdditional InformationOur offer
