- Job Description
- The salary for this role is £56,596 (inclusive of a Specialist Allowance). Onsite working is expected for 3 days each week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.
- This role is based at the following site: Culham, Oxfordshire.
- This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.
- The Role
- We’re looking for a driven leader to take charge of impactful projects, guiding both internal teams and external partners to deliver cutting-edge solutions.
- In this role, you’ll apply your specialist expertise to deliver complex engineering programmes, guiding project teams on transformative initiatives such as enhancement projects, pioneering fusion devices, and the development of breakthrough technological applications. As a key authority in engineering management, you’ll define, direct, and deliver major projects, while coordinating teams to design innovative solutions and tackle critical operational challenges. This role will give you the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and build strong collaborations with industry, academia, and international partners.

Key Accountabilities

- Guide complex fusion engineering projects from concept to implementation, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and to budget.
- Act as technical lead in project initiation, defining scope, budgets, schedules, and make-or-buy decisions.
- Apply systems engineering principles, ensuring compliance with design codes, standards, and legislation.
- Oversee supplier engagement, from specifying work and tendering to equipment acceptance and integration.
- Manage installation, testing, and commissioning of engineering systems, ensuring safe and effective delivery.
- Qualifications
- A relevant engineering degree or equivalent.
- Experience in leading (preferably multidisciplinary) engineering team.
- Ability to manage technical stakeholder interfaces both within and external to active projects.
- Experience in delivering complex technical projects in a high-hazard environment.
- Experience working within a highly regulated environment.
- Chartered Status with relevant Engineering Institutions or equivalent experience.
