- Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Senior Process Engineer in our rapidly growing Glasgow or Edinburgh offices - whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model.

We have recently been named preferred bidder for one of two Primary Designers for Scottish Water’s SR27 Enterprise. This transformational, multi-billion-pound programme is the highest value venture ever put into place by Scottish Water and will reshape Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027 to 2033 (with potential to extend for another 6 years).

Here’s what you’ll do
- Deliver: Undertake the design and review of hydraulic systems in wastewater and water infrastructure / treatment. Develop and check process flow diagrams, mass balance calculations, PID’s, process control, operating philosophy, control philosophy, FDS documents and the principles therein. Undertake survey and assessments of existing process/equipment (asset surveys); site visits to complete if required.
- Quality: Produce and review client deliverables, make key technical decisions and identify when specialist input from the greater team is required. Ensure all technical documents and data are prepared and structured in accordance with relevant design standards and legislation.
- Collaborate with clients and AECOM counterparts to ensure stakeholder buy-in to solutions, also contributing to AECOM’s wider technical capability and innovative approach.
- Mentor: Delegate tasks, direct and oversee the work of others and act as a technical mentor to more junior staff.
- Lead: Represent AECOM in technical meetings with clients and work with engineers from other disciplines, ensuring an appropriate integrated solution.

Here’s what we’re looking for
- Degree (or equivalent) in Chemical Engineering from an IChemE approved institution.
- Working towards or completed Chartered Engineer status with IChemE or CIWEM.
- Experience in wastewater treatment, managing the technical delivery of large-scale engineering projects; wastewater treatment process design and optimisation using appropriate Water Company standards and specifications.
- Knowledge of Feasibility and Optioneering Studies for wastewater treatment processes.
- Knowledge of the HAZOP process and procedures including experience of Technical Scribe duties.
- Knowledge of DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmosphere Regulations) and how it is applied to typical Wastewater Treatment processes.
