About

Senior Nursery Practitioner/SENCo | £13.70 per hour | 36–41 hours per week

Our client, a well-established early years service rated Good by Ofsted, is looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Practitioner to join their supportive nursery team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified childcare professional to step into a senior role, with the option to also take on the important responsibility of Nursery SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator).

As Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality childcare and supporting the day-to-day running of the nursery. You’ll be a role model for best practice, helping to inspire and guide colleagues while ensuring children receive the best possible start in life.

The service is also looking for a dedicated SENCo, so this role offers the chance to take on additional responsibilities in supporting children with special educational needs. For candidates with the right skills or qualifications, this can bring further professional growth and recognition.

What We’re Looking For

  • Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above) – essential.

  • Experience working within an early years or nursery setting.

  • Strong knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding practices.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to lead and support others.

  • Warm, approachable, and committed to inclusive practice.

  • SENCo qualification or experience – highly desirable, though training may be available for the right candidate.

Why Join the Service?

  • Paid day off for your birthday

  • Healthcare scheme

  • Staff Christmas party

  • Free uniform

  • Paid DBS check

  • Pension scheme

  • Onsite parking

  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the smooth daily running of the nursery alongside the leadership team.

  • Plan and deliver engaging activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment where every child can thrive.

  • Act as a positive role model for staff, supporting development and sharing best practice.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children, parents, and carers.

  • Maintain accurate records, observations, and assessments to track progress.

  • If undertaking the SENCo role:

  • Coordinate and oversee support for children with additional needs.

  • Liaise with external professionals and families to create tailored support plans.

  • Ensure the nursery remains inclusive and accessible for all children.

If you are an experienced childcare professional ready to take the next step in your career, this Senior Nursery Practitioner role – with the potential to grow into SENCo responsibilities – could be the perfect fit.

Apply today to join a welcoming early years team where you can truly make a difference.
