OVERVIEW

  • Senior Merchandisers lead cross‑functional teams to drive the commercial success of their product category. They balance creativity with data, building seasonal line plans, partnering with Design on future styles, and using in‑season insights to identify growth opportunities. They own the product end‑to‑end across all channels and markets.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Drive Category Performance
  • • Analyse past, present, and future trade to identify themes, risks, and opportunities.
  • • Translate insights into clear inseason actions (OTB, rebuy, markdowns, chase, assortment adjustments) to maximise sales and KPIs.
  • • Influence future-season strategy through robust hindsight, forecasting, and collaboration with Planning and Product.
  • Lead Trading & Storytelling
  • • Present compelling trade insights weekly and monthly up to Director level, tailoring content to audience.
  • • Own trade decks, seasonal hindsight’s, and action-oriented conversations in cross-functional premeetsmeets.
  • Shape Seasonal & Long-Range Strategy
  • • Build and own line plans aligned to financial targets, customer needs, and market trends of Trade Category
  • • Influence fabric, product, assortment, lifecycle management, and Top 30 strategy across channels and division
  • • Partner with Planning, Design, Brand, Marketing, and Digital to deliver seamless go-to-market execution.tomarket execution.
  • Deliver World-Class Commercial Execution
  • • Oversee launch timelines, intake health, rebuy accuracy, and product flow across regions.
  • • Ensure hero, seasonal, and campaign product strategies are executed consistently online and in stores.

  • Champion the Customer & Market
  • • Act as the strategic voice of the customer, leveraging research, reviews, athlete insights, market data, and competitive analysis to influence category and divisional direction.
  • • Identify future needs and opportunities, connecting insights to storytelling and product strategy.
  • • Be well versed in the muse alongside industry and product trends

Omni Channel Focus

  • • Guide team in GTM packs to communicate key seasonal stories
  • • Drive cross functional alignment with ecom and VM to proactively align pre-season and react to trade in-season
  • • Craft Retail assortments on a Trade Category level that support total Gender and Commercial strategies
  • Lead & Develop Others
  • • Coach and mentor junior merchandisers, setting a high bar for performance, communication, and ways of working. Act as category expert in POD meetings to keep commercial needs in-focus for cross functional partners

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Please note this is a hybrid role partially based in our New York City office OR our GSIQ office, Solihull. All candidates must be local or willing to relocate. You must also be authorized to work in the United States/UK.
  • Strong retail experience in apparel Buying/Merchandising.
  • Proven ability to build customer‑led product assortments.
  • Cross‑functional collaboration with Planning, Marketing, Design, Sourcing, PD.
  • Experience delivering strategies across multiple channels.
  • Skilled at managing multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Confident using sales data and trend insights to inform decisions.
  • Deep understanding of customer preferences and market dynamics.

  • Experience in activewear.
  • Global experience with understanding of local consumer needs.
  • Strong fashion and trend awareness.
  • Exposure to multiple apparel categories.
