- Job Description
- Location: London, Hybrid
- We’re excited to be looking for our next Senior iOS Engineer to help shape Gousto’s international iOS app as we continue to grow beyond the UK. This is a unique opportunity to take real ownership of a standalone product that is still early in its journey, and play a key role in turning it into a high-quality, customer-loved experience. You’ll be hands-on building features, raising engineering standards, and making technical decisions that have a direct impact on our customers.
- You’ll join a cross-functional product squad as the go-to iOS specialist, working closely with product, design, and engineering partners while operating with a high degree of autonomy. You’ll help set technical direction, keep delivery moving, and solve problems end to end, while also contributing to the wider Gousto iOS community by sharing learnings and aligning best practices across our international and UK apps. Sound like your kind of role? We’d love to hear from you!
- Core responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end delivery of iOS features and improvements for the international product team, from initial design through to release and ongoing iteration.
- Act as the technical quality bar for the international iOS codebase, ensuring high standards across testing, performance, maintainability, and reliability.
- Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to translate customer and business needs into well-crafted iOS solutions.
- Make and clearly communicate technical decisions, balancing delivery speed with quality and long-term sustainability.
- Proactively identify and address technical risks, debt, and quality issues to keep the app healthy as it scales.
- Push back constructively on scope, timelines, or approaches that could compromise product quality or long-term outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with non-iOS engineers, clearly explaining iOS-specific considerations and constraints.
- Contribute to Gousto’s wider iOS community through knowledge sharing, reviews, and alignment on standards and ways of working.
- Bring learnings from across the iOS community into the international app to improve consistency, reuse, and overall quality.
- Who you are
- You have strong experience building and maintaining production iOS applications using Swift.
- You bring a deep understanding of iOS architecture, testing approaches, performance, and long-term maintainability.
- You’re comfortable owning features or systems end to end, from concept through to delivery, with minimal supervision.
- You naturally set and uphold a high quality bar within a codebase and take pride in well-crafted, reliable software.
- You’re product-minded and enjoy working closely with product managers and designers to solve real customer problems.
- You’re confident making technical decisions independently and can clearly explain trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You’re comfortable being the sole iOS specialist within a cross-functional team and enjoy that level of ownership.
- You have strong debugging and problem-solving skills, particularly in complex or evolving codebases.
- You’ve collaborated with, or contributed to, a wider engineering community or guild and value shared standards and learning.
