About
- Company Description
- ENODA’s world-class team is building the first truly decentralised, intelligent energy system that will reshape how we generate, store, and distribute energy.
- Foundational to our holistic and integrated platform approach, the Enoda PRIME® Exchanger is a first-of-a-kind dynamic power flow hardware designed to maintain “on-target” frequency and voltage, increasing grid efficiency and capacity for distributed energy sources like renewables and EVs.
- Enoda ENSEMBLE™ is our ecosystem co-ordinator of ENODA and third-party assets, able to forecast, aggregate, and bid capacity in real time, functioning as a networked “operating system” for the electrical grid.
- This is more than simply managing electricity flow. It is about creating the foundational system to prepare for a radically more capable, prosperous, and intelligent future.
- Job Description
- We have an opportunity for an experienced Electronics Hardware Design Engineer to join our business as we continue to scale.
- You will be responsible for leading end-to-end design of electronic circuits and systems, from concept through to schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, testing, and validation.
- Working within a larger multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate closely with firmware, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and other domain experts to deliver robust, compliant and cost-effective designs meeting performance and regulatory requirements.
- Independently deliver robust, compliant, and cost-effective electronic hardware designs that meet functional and performance requirements, demonstrating full ownership of assigned projects.
- Lead and drive the full hardware development cycle – from concept and requirements definition through to design, validation, and release to manufacturing, with minimal oversight. Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical safety, EMC and environmental standards.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical safety, EMC, and environmental standards, proactively identifying and mitigating risks. Drive continuous improvement in design processes, documentation, and test methodologies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and influence multidisciplinary teams (firmware, mechanical, electrical, systems, and manufacturing) to achieve integrated, high-quality products.
- Initiate and lead continuous improvement efforts in design processes, documentation, and test methodologies, setting best practices for the team.
- Champion product reliability, maintainability, and cost reduction initiatives, identifying strategic opportunities and driving implementation.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Own and lead technical initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and delivering measurable impact.
- The role is based on site at the Quartermile in Edinburgh.
- Qualifications
- Design experience with multi-layer PCB with multiple design interfaces including digital, FPGA, MCU, power supply and mixed-signals.
- Experience with sensor integration and robust measurement techniques (Rogowski, voltage dividers, filtering, integration, op-amps).
- Design for power electronics (Inverters/converters/high-frequency gate-drives)
- Running simulations and calculations of discrete circuit designs.
- Conducting hands-on debugging, bring-up, and validation of new hardware.
- Developing test plans and procedures for prototype evaluation and design verification.
- Creating manufacturing data packs and documentation that comply with both company and industry-standard processes (Design specifications/calculations, design reviews, DFMEA, test procedures)
- Assisting with work package planning and scheduling to meet project milestones.
- Validating manufacturing data to ensure compliance with supplier capability.
- Liaising effectively with external suppliers, PCB assembly/fabricators.
- Familiar with current industry standard ECAD tools used for PCB design and verification (Ideally Altium).
