- This role sits at the heart of AJ Bell’s Risk Team, supporting the delivery of an effective enterprise risk management framework. You will work closely with the Enterprise Risk Manager and take the lead on a wide range of business as usual risk activities. These include organising risk workshops and forums, reviewing risk events, preparing reports, maintaining the Group’s risk system, and providing guidance and challenge to first line Risk and Control Owners.
- You will also help coordinate key risk processes such as the Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA), Control Effectiveness Review (CER) and ICARA. This role offers broad exposure across the business and the chance to grow your skills in a maturing risk function, making it an excellent step for someone looking to progress their career in enterprise risk management.
- What will you be doing?
You will support the Enterprise Risk Manager and help deliver the Group’s enterprise risk framework through responsibilities such as
- Coordinating with stakeholders, organising meetings, preparing packs and supporting day to day risk activities.
- Helping to build a strong risk culture by reviewing risk events, challenging actions where needed and engaging with first line teams.
- Supporting key risk processes including RCSA and CER, ensuring risks and controls are reviewed, scores are appropriate and providing independent feedback.
- Planning and running risk forums and workshops, including ICARA scenario sessions, and deputising for the Enterprise Risk Manager when required.
- Providing guidance and challenge to Risk and Control Owners on control design, effectiveness and risk scoring.
- Preparing committee papers, reports and MI, analysing risk data, identifying themes and making recommendations.
- Maintaining the Group’s risk system, ensuring data accuracy, completing administration tasks and implementing configuration changes.
- Creating and delivering training to help users understand the risk system and related processes.
- Supporting delivery of the Annual Risk Plan and contributing to the ongoing development of the risk management framework.
What we’re looking for
- Self motivated with a genuine interest in growing a career in risk management.
- Solid understanding of risk management principles and how they apply in Financial Services.
- Good knowledge of the Financial Services industry, ideally investment platforms or asset management.
- Confident communicator who can work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Clear and concise report writing.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, able to interpret data and identify practical solutions.
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint.
