What we’re looking for

  • Aviation Week Network is looking for an experienced defense analyst to join its defense data team.
  • As part of the defense data team, you will contribute to Aviation Week’s world class coverage of the aerospace and defense market through support of the network’s databases, analytical products, conferences, and consultancy-based projects.
  • This specific senior analyst role is focused upon supporting Aviation Week Network’s Military Fleet Discovery and Military Fleet & MRO Forecast databases, with responsibility for providing analysis on military aircraft markets in the Middle East and North Africa region. This will involve developing subject matter expertise in relevant military aircraft programs, opportunities for our customers, and market dynamics within the region.
  • In addition to this core work, you will also assist with the creation and updating of detailed aircraft program profiles which form a key part of our Aviation Week Intelligence Network tool. This will involve creating in-depth reports on specific military aircraft programs covering program history and providing analysis of current and future status. The role will also involve contributing to the development of wider defense market profiles for the Middle East and North Africa region.

Role Accountability and Duties

As a Senior Defense Analyst you will

  • Maintain data on military aircraft fleets, programs, and deliveries for your regions in support of Aviation Week Network’s Military Fleet Discovery and Military Fleet & MRO Forecast databases.
  • Support the development and updating of wider defense market profiles for the Middle East and North Africa region
  • Provide briefings to Aviation Week clients on your areas of responsibility.
  • Support related consultancy projects as required.
  • Contribute to Aviation Week Network’s analysis of the wider aerospace and defence market through editorial work, webinars, and in person briefings
  • Support the growth of Aviation Week Network’s defence data business.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.
  • Qualifications

What you bring to the team

Required

  • Proven ability to collect, organise, and analyse datasets to identify trends and provide insight.
  • Proven ability to write qualitative analysis on your area of responsibility based upon data.
  • A strong interest in, and understanding of, military aircraft programs and markets.
  • Understanding of critical customer requirements within the aerospace and defence sector
  • A strong work ethic and proactive approach

Desirable

  • Direct experience of working in the defence industry, ideally in the military aerospace sector
  • Knowledge of the related technologies, domains, and competitive landscape
  • Experience in delivery of consultancy, strategy development, and/or competitor intelligence.
  • Experience of delivering public/client facing briefings
  • Experience supporting written editorial products.
  • Advanced excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Language skills would also be highly beneficial.
