SEND Teaching Assistant Location: Wakefield AreaContract Type: Full-time, Term Time OnlySalary: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications A specialist secondary and post-16 provision in the Wakefield area is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their outstanding team. This inclusive setting caters for pupils aged 11–19 with severe, complex, and profound multiple learning difficulties. Many students also have Autism, sensory impairments, medical needs, and physical disabilities. The school has received Outstanding ratings across all areas from Ofsted, including quality of education, behaviour, and personal development. Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored support to pupils with a wide range of SENDAssist in the delivery of a bespoke curriculum focused on communication, life skills, and independenceSupport pupils with personal care and mobility needs where requiredFoster a positive and inclusive learning environmentCollaborate with teachers, therapists, and families to support holistic development Essential Requirements: Experience working with children or young people with complex SENDPatience, empathy, and a proactive approach to learning supportAbility to use a range of communication methods (e.g., Makaton, PECS)Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing Desirable: Manual handling or moving and handling trainingExperience with sensory integration or physiotherapy supportFamiliarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a team that empowers every student to find their voice and reach their full potential.
