If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you! Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist setting in the Leeds area. This crucial role involves supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties and complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant in a specialist setting, your dedication will be vital to the pupils' holistic development. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing bespoke support for pupils with PMLD, SLD, and Complex ASD across therapeutic and practical learning activities.
Assisting with therapy programmes and using specialist equipment, including communication aids and sensory resources.
Confidently assisting with moving and handling and personal care duties (e.g., feeding, changing), always maintaining the pupil's dignity.
Implementing strategies based on positive behaviour support (PBS) and trauma-informed practice to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.
Working closely with the class teacher, therapists, and medical staff to deliver integrated care plans.
Requirements:
To succeed in this unique and vital role, you must possess:
Extensive experience working with pupils who have profound/complex needs (PMLD/SLD) in a specialist setting.
A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable, but specialist experience is paramount.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
Specialist training in Moving & Handling, Team Teach, or Complex Communication (PECS/Makaton) is highly advantageous.
A compassionate, highly resilient, and patient nature, comfortable with the physical and emotional demands of the role.
