Key Responsibilities:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in the successful inclusion and development of pupils. Your responsibilities will include:
Delivering bespoke learning and social interventions to pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs (SEN) within the classroom.
Acting as a consistent and trusted mentor, guiding pupils to develop self-regulation and coping strategies.
Actively supporting the class teacher to ensure lessons are adapted and accessible, fostering a truly inclusive atmosphere for all learners.
Meticulously observing and documenting pupil progress against their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or EHCP targets.
Confidently implementing positive behaviour management strategies to create a calm and productive setting.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
Demonstrable experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in an educational setting.
A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or significant, strong experience in a similar role.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
Exceptional patience, adaptability, and resilience.
Strong teamwork and professional communication skills.
Training in key areas such as Makaton, PECS, or emotional literacy is highly desirable.
