Our client, a dedicated educational institution, is seeking a highly skilled and resilient Teaching and Pupil Support Assistant to join their nurturing school environment.
The Opportunity: Role & Responsibilities
In this permanent, term-time only position, you will be an essential part of the school community, providing crucial support to students, particularly those with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and staff.
Your Main Tasks Will Include:
Learning Support: Provide direct support and encouragement to students in learning activities, both in and outside the classroom. Assist in the preparation of learning materials and resources.
Behaviour and Well-being: Implement effective behaviour regulation strategies in line with school policies. Support children who are in crisis and act as an effective model of expected behaviour.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, other schools, educational psychologists, and health and social care professionals to support pupil well-being and development.
Safety and Resources: Ensure the health, safety, and appropriate behaviour of pupils at all times, including during off-site activities. Secure relevant resources for pupils.
What We're Looking For: Essential Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and a demonstrable passion for supporting young people with complex needs.
Qualifications:
GCSEs grades A-C (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
NVQ Level 3 in Supported Teaching and Learning (or equivalent).
Experience:
Relevant experience supporting children with complex SEND needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), Cognition and Learning, ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition), and Attachment Difficulties.
Proven experience working with pupils with SEMH or other SEN in a school or similar setting.
Personal Attributes:
Demonstrate patience, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy towards children.
Be resilient, energetic, and possess a solution-focused attitude.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team, maintaining excellent punctuality, reliability, and confidentiality.
