The Role: Dedicated Learning Support in BurwellWe are recruiting for a reliable and motivated SEN Classroom Assistant / Teaching Assistant (TA) to become a key part of our partner school's team near Burwell.
This is a vital role focused on delivering consistent, individualised support within the classroom environment. You will work with pupils who have a broad spectrum of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and associated communication needs. Your efforts will directly contribute to maintaining an inclusive, secure, and focused educational setting.
Key Daily Contributions
- Provide essential assistance to students, helping them stay engaged with tasks, navigate changes in routine, and participate successfully in differentiated group activities.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher to prepare learning stations and modify resources, ensuring they meet the specific sensory and practical requirements of the pupils.
- Implement prescribed support plans, utilising various communication techniques and proactive strategies to anticipate and manage potential challenges.
- Serve as a consistent emotional anchor and mentor, guiding students in developing better self-management and positive social interaction skills.
- Accurately observe and record student progress and behaviour, contributing insightful feedback to the staff team during planning and review sessions.
- Assist with necessary personal care, hygiene, and mobility support as required by the students' specific needs, always acting with professionalism and respect.
Your Skills and Attributes
- Relevant experience working with children or young adults who have complex SEN, preferably within a school or structured support environment, is essential.
- A naturally compassionate, resilient, and resourceful nature, with a clear passion for working in a specialist educational setting.
- A proven ability to quickly build respectful and professional rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
- An active Enhanced Child DBS certificate on the update service (or the willingness to apply right away).
