The child is non-verbal and requires a sensitive, structured approach to communication and learning. You’ll play a vital part in helping them engage, progress, and thrive in the classroom and wider school community.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consistent, individualised 1:1 classroom support for a pupil with significant SEN needs.
Use visual aids, Makaton, or PECS to support communication and understanding.- Adapt lessons and activities to meet personalised learning goals.
- Collaborate closely with class teachers and the SENCO to implement tailored support plans.
- Encourage independence, inclusion, and confidence throughout the school day.
Requirements
Experience supporting children with autism, complex needs, and non-verbal communication.- Confident in using communication strategies (PECS/Makaton preferred).
- Patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach.
- Available for trial days next week and able to start Monday 3 November.
