SEN Teaching Assistant Start Date: January 2026 Location: Waltham Forest Full/Part-time: Full-time Salary: £104 - £110 per day About the role/school Teach Plus are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming three-form entry mainstream primary school in Waltham Forest from January 2026. The school is well-resourced and inclusive, with a dedicated SEN team that supports a diverse cohort of pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This SEN Teaching Assistant role will involve supporting children with both physical and behavioural needs across EYFS, KS1 or KS2, depending on experience. The ideal candidate will be patient, nurturing, and adaptable, with a passion for helping children thrive in a supportive learning environment. The SEN Teaching Assistant will also be expected to assist with small group interventions and deliver targeted phonics sessions to help pupils make strong progress in literacy. Job Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND, ensuring individual learning plans are followed effectivelyAssist the class teacher and SENCO with planning, adapting, and delivering interventionsSupport pupils with physical needs, behavioural regulation, and emotional wellbeing throughout the school dayImplement strategies to promote positive behaviour and inclusion within the classroomDeliver phonics support sessions and assist with literacy and numeracy interventions as directedCollaborate with other staff and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupilsMaintain accurate records of pupil progress and communicate effectively with teachers
