Key Responsibilities:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will be instrumental in the inclusion and positive development of pupils. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing tailored academic support, focusing on literacy, numeracy, and communication, to individuals and small groups with specific needs.
Proactively implementing and reinforcing strategies to guide pupils toward positive choices and foster self-regulation skills.
Serving as a reliable, consistent adult who offers crucial emotional support and helps pupils navigate social situations.
Effectively communicating pupil progress and challenges to the Class Teacher and SENCO, contributing to the development of effective support plans.
Assisting in modifying resources and classroom organisation to maximise accessibility and inclusivity for all pupils.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you must possess:
Demonstrable experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly Autism or behavioural needs.
A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is highly desirable, or you must have significant, relevant experience.
An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).
The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.
Exceptional resilience, confidence in managing behaviour, and a flexible mindset.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Training in de-escalation (such as Team Teach) or Trauma-Informed practice is highly advantageous.
