Job Title: Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs

A specialist SEN school in North Manchester, dedicated to supporting students (aged 11-16+) with SLD, PMLD, ASD, and complex medical needs, needs an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant and positive impact.

Your Role (Responsibilities)
As an SEN Teaching Assistant in this setting, you will:
- Deliver tailored one-to-one and small group support to students with SLD, PMLD, ASD, and medical requirements.
- Assist students with personal care, including feeding, toileting, and mobility, always ensuring their dignity and respect.
- Implement individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and collaborate with staff to track student progress.
- Foster a safe and positive learning environment by calmly managing challenging behaviour, using de-escalation techniques.
- Liaise effectively with the class teacher, therapists, and other professionals to ensure holistic student support.
- Actively promote student independence and develop their communication skills using various methods.
What You Bring (Requirements)
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of 6 months of UK-based experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, working directly with complex learning difficulties.
- A valid, in-date Team Teach qualification (essential for this role).
- Demonstrable experience and confidence in providing personal care to young people.
- A strong understanding of safeguarding protocols within a school setting.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students.
- Clear communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective teamwork and reporting.
- A proactive and adaptable attitude, contributing positively to the school community.
- The right to work in the UK.
- An enhanced children and adults DBS on the update service (or the willingness to apply for one).
