English Teacher Job Type: Full-timeLocation: South CumbriaSalary: Competitive, in line with Teacher Pay ScaleStart - January 2026, full time until January 2027 - Maternity cover Reed Education is seeking a dynamic English Teacher for a long-term role starting in January for a full year maternity cover at a secondary school in South Cumbria. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of the curriculum, excellent communication skills, and a dedication to creating an engaging learning environment. Day-to-day of the role: Deliver engaging and effective English lessons to students at KS3 and KS4 levels; teaching KS5 is also advantageous.Utilise strong subject knowledge to inspire and motivate students.Maintain high standards of classroom management to ensure a constructive learning environment.Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.Collaborate with other teaching staff to plan and coordinate lessons.Participate in and organise extracurricular activities, such as reading clubs or school outings, to enhance the learning experience. Required Skills & Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent teaching qualification.Recent and relevant experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4; experience at KS5 is beneficial.Demonstrated ability to be an excellent classroom practitioner.Reliable, committed, and capable of demonstrating qualities of compassion, trustworthiness, and politeness.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to be patient and confident when working with children.
