An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sales Ledger Officer to join a leading Public Sector Organisation. This crucial role will provide high-quality, front-line support to students, staff and visitors by delivering efficient customer service, accurate information and timely administrative assistance across the Organisation. Key responsibilities:Set up and maintain customer accounts on the finance system Raise sales invoices in accordance with contracts, schedules, and agreed pricingEnsure income is recorded accurately and in the correct accounting periodAllocate cash receipts against customer invoices promptly and accuratelyInvestigate and resolve unallocated cash and mismatchesMonitor outstanding balances and aged debtorsChase overdue debts in line with the Organisation’s credit control policyLiaise with internal teams and external customers to resolve payment queriesEscalate long-outstanding or disputed debts appropriatelyPerform regular reconciliations betweenSales ledger and general ledger work Bank receipts and customer accountsInvestigate and correct discrepancies in a timely mannerSupport month-end and year-end close processesMaintain audit trails and supporting documentation for all transactionsProduce aged debtor reports and income summariesRespond to internal and external audit queries relating to income and debtorsIdeal Candidate:Experience in a sales ledger / accounts receivable roleStrong numerical accuracy and attention to detailExperience using financial accounting systemsGood Excel skills (including reconciliations and basic formulas)Ability to manage deadlines and work to the month-end timetablesClear written and verbal communication skillsLocation: Central London – Hybrid
