  • The City of Fort Worth Water Utility is seeking one (1) student to work as a Regulatory Environmental Intern. The Intern will work with our Regulatory Environmental section to assist with providing assistance with the Lead and Copper Rule, and other tasks assigned as they relate to compliance with the Water Utility.
  • The intern will have bi-weekly conversations and evaluations with their supervisor. Internship is expected to go from the Spring semester 2026 to the Fall semester 2027 (December), onsite at New City Hall 100 Fort Worth Trail, Fort Worth, Texas 76102.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current or recently graduated within the last 6 months of application or working towards a specialization in a vocational field, or a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Engineering, Environmental Science or Public Health
  • No previous experience required
  • Cannot be in the position longer than 12 months

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS Office Suite experience
  • Familiar with any of the following course areas: Principles of Regulatory Law, Legislation and Regulation, Public Policy Drafting

The Regulatory Environmental Internship job responsibilities include

  • Work on regulatory activities
  • Work in close collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Regularly communicate and provide progress updates to keep team informed on continuous compliance requirements as assigned
  • Using MS Excel, support data-gathering for reports to senior management
  • Research Texas Administrative Code History
  • Practical understanding on the application of statutes and administrative regulations in the practice of law, including their creation, amendment, and interpretation; includes the interpretive and lawmaking roles of the three branches of government; statutory interpretation delegation and administrative agency practice; and regulatory governance
