Salary: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, DOE Anticipated Schedule: Hours: Monday-Friday 8:45am to 4:15pm [No Camp July 3rd] Training: CPR/AED/First Aid - Week of May 26, 2026 Job Summary: Responsible for supervising youth program participants. Plans, leads and performs a variety of recreation activities including sports & field games, arts & crafts, field trips, swimming, and other outdoor activities. May assist with department community events and athletic events. Works directly with program participants in day camp setting; Administers appropriate first aid to program participants; Assists other program staff with facility clean up following the established guidelines; Responsible for leading daily activities and keep schedule on track; Assists in maintaining the programs materials and inventory, submits supply request within the deadlines required by the Camp Director and reports any lost or broken supplies or equipment to the Camp Director; Responsible for proper documentation pertaining to each child including sign in and out sheets; Responsible for all disciplinary actions taken at the program site. Will refer to the Discipline Policy; Works as a team with other Recreation Camp Counselors various program sites; Holds primary responsibility for supervising special activities and making sure they are following the program schedule, guidelines and procedures; Holds secondary responsibility for program management; Refers all parent complaints and concerns to the Site Director; Coordinates with the Site Director in planning and implementing activities based on weekly themes; Assist department staff with set up, implementation and take down/cleanup of community events and athletic events. Upholds all of the City ordinances, policies and procedures set forth by the City of Meridian; Ensures and promotes safety for children in varying environments of the program; Perform other related as assigned or needed. Job Specifications: High School Diploma 2-years’ experience in a summer camp setting, or with youth programs in a leadership role, or any equivalent combination of experience, education and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must have good public relations skills, and be a good organizer; Must display an attitude of cooperation and the ability to work well with others and work as a team player; Ability to act in an emergency; Ability to communicate with management, co-workers and general public with respect and in a pleasant, courteous manner; Integrity, in the performance of assigned tasks. Licensing and Certification: Must obtain CPR, AED and First Aid Certification prior to camp start date; CPR, AED & First Aid Certification is offered as a part of staff training.
