Records Management Officer Annual Salary: £127 per dayLocation: BexleyheathJob Type: Hybrid (Temp with view to perm) We are seeking a Records Management Officer (RMO) to join our council team. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with legal and statutory obligations related to records management. The successful candidate will act as the subject matter expert, providing essential advice and managing the records management lifecycle across the organisation. Day-to-day of the role: Develop, implement, and maintain the Council’s Records Management Framework, ensuring all policies and procedures are current and legally compliant.Design and enforce Retention and Disposal Schedules that align with UK GDPR, DPA 2018, FOIA 2000, and the Public Records Act 1958.Conduct comprehensive inventories of all Council records and perform annual Information Management audits to monitor compliance.Manage documentation for the final transfer and disposition of records, ensuring secure destruction processes are followed.Lead the archival process, including preparation, cataloguing, sensitivity review, and transfer of records for permanent preservation.Support the Council’s compliance with FOIA and EIR by ensuring records are traceable and retrievably quickly within statutory timelines.Promote and lead the strategy for digital transformation towards managed, structured digital repositories.Design and deliver training programs on Records Management best practices to all staff and elected members. Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven expertise in Records Management, particularly within a public sector or council environment.Strong understanding of the Public Records Act, UK GDPR, FOIA, and related legislation.Experience in developing and implementing records management policies and framewor
