Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (GCHSCP) is recruiting a Project Worker within Homeless Residential Services.
Homeless Residential Services provide temporary accommodation and intensive support to individuals experiencing homelessness. The service focuses on assessing needs, developing resettlement plans and helping people build the skills and confidence needed for independent living. It plays a key role in reducing repeat homelessness and promoting recovery, inclusion, and wellbeing.
The James McLean Project specifically supports vulnerable homeless young adults aged 16–21. The project remit is to provide care and support for vulnerable young people through individual key working meetings in order to provide a comprehensive assessment of need and formulate a robust resettlement plan.
Project Workers provide a front-line service working 1 to 1 with individuals and assisting with support planning.
Applicants must have the ability to develop positive working relationships with young adults experiencing homelessness as well as being able to respond to disclosures of a personal and sensitive nature and deal with occasional challenging behaviours.
Staff motivate and support service users assisting them to minimise isolation, increase self-confidence and learn new skills. Promoting service user involvement is key. Staff also provide practical assistance to service users e.g developing living skills such as cooking, money management, arranging and accompanying service users to appointments.
Applicants must also possess good verbal and written communication skills.
If you’re a compassionate and resilient individual who thrives in a team environment and is dedicated to supporting young people, we’d love to hear from you.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme is essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above role will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
Registration to the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) is an essential requirement for this role. You must either be already registered or have applied within 3 months and be registered within 6 months from your start date.
