Are you ready to play a pivotal role in supporting academic excellence? Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a dedicated Programme Administrator to join us - a renowned institution committed to providing a high-quality academic and working environment.

As Programme Administrator, you will join the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences on a full-time, permanent basis, working closely with academic and support staff to ensure the smooth delivery of our programmes and enhance the student experience.

The Programme Administrator role offers a salary of £30,803 rising to £34,346. You'll work full-time, 35 hours per week, in a hybrid role, with two days in the office. The role includes a six-month probation period and is permanent - providing job security and opportunities for growth. As a Programme Administrator, you will:

  • Provide advice and guidance to students on various issues, including entrance requirements and examination entry.
  • Operate college systems for student module allocation and examinations.
  • Support assessments, mitigate circumstances cases, and collaborate with teaching staff.
  • Contribute to the creation and distribution of online publicity materials and standard documentation.
  • Ensure logistical arrangements for teaching events and maintain financial records.
  • Respond to enquiries professionally and support business process improvements.

To excel as a Programme Administrator, you should have:

  • Good knowledge of administrative systems and office work.
  • Strong IT skills, including MS Office and Virtual Learning Environments e.g. Microsoft Office 365, Teams, SITS student records, Moodle etc), although training will be provided.
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven administrative and customer service experience.
  • A student-focused approach with the ability to work accurately and flexibly.

Contract

Open-ended, permanent contract. Full-time (35 hours per week), 10-6pm Monday to Friday. Two days per week on-site is expected. Please submit an application form for consideration. Closing date: Monday 26 May, interview date: Tuesday 3 June 2025.

Salary and benefits

£30,803 rising to £34,346 per annum, which is Grade 4 of the College's London Pay Scale. The salary quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
